PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizer which has less injuries, creases, and seams and has no folds to be superior in appearance.SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a polarizer, which subjects a polyvinyl alcohol film to at least swelling treatment, staining treatment, and cross-linking treatment, the swelling treatment is treatment of installing at least a first guide roll and a second guide roll in a treatment bath so as to satisfy formula (1) X/Y≥0.65 and drawing the polyvinyl alcohol film to a draw ratio of 1.6 to 2.4. The second guide roll is a spreader roll having a curvature ((arc height)/(roll surface length)) of 0.01 to 0.1. In the formula (1), X is a distance over which the polyvinyl alcohol film is conveyed till contact with the second guide roll after being put in the treatment bath and Y is a distance over which the polyvinyl alcohol film is conveyed till removal from the treatment bath after being put in the treatment bath. |
