535,326. Permanent waving of hair. WILLAT, A. F. Nov. 27, 1939, No. 30914. [Class 131] Hair may be permanently waved at a temperature not exceeding 60‹ C. by the use of waving solutions which are forced through the hair under pressure, recovered and recirculated under pressure and the hair then rinsed with water &c. under pressure the solutions used being those of alkali metals, carbonates, sulphates and bicarbonates or, if a quicker method is desired, alkali sulphides and hydrosulphide or hydrogen sulphide. The hair tresses may be wound in curlers 11 by which the waving solution may be forced through the tresses through the central bore 12 and radial holes 14 by means of a bulb 52, bottle 45 and tube 43. A shield or hat 58 is provided having a sump 59. After sufficient of the waving solution has been passed through the hair tresses, rinsing water from a tap 66 is passed through the bulb 52 and bottle 45, the waving solution having been removed, and thence through the tresses. The overflow in the sump 59 passes through tube 69 to a sink 46.
