The invention relates to a method for testing a device (20) and a testing apparatus (2) and a computer program product for implementing the method. The method comprises simulating a touch on a touch panel (21); obtaining information of a response of the touch panel (21) to the simulated touch; and using the response information to determine one or more properties of the device (20). The simulating comprises providing an optical signal towards a surface of the touch panel (21); and converting the optical signal to another physical phenomenon on the surface of the touch panel (21) by a converting element (3).
