The apparatus i.e. edging apparatus (13), has an energy supply coupled with a device e.g. machining unit, sensor and adjusting device, to be supplied with energy. The device machines a workpiece (11) that is made of wood- or wood substitute materials. A contact-less coupling is formed between the device and the energy supply. The contact-less coupling is formed such that the energy is transferred from the energy supply to a drive for driving the device. The adjusting unit adjusts position of the workpiece, the machining unit and/or the sensor. An independent claim is also included for a machining center.
