摘要 A radiation dosage monitoring system for determining internal radiation dosages received by a patient 20 undergoing radiation treatment. The system comprises a module to generate a three dimensional (3-D) model of a surface of a portion of the patient undergoing treatment and an image detector 10 that can detected Cherenkov radiation and any secondary radiation scattering due to initial Cherenkov radiation emitted from a surface of the irradiated patient. The system further comprises a processing module to estimate radiation dosages received by internal portions of the patient by estimating the radiation applied to the patient surface from images obtained from the image detector 10 and the generated 3-D model; and then using the estimated radiation applied to the patient surface together with: data indicating the orientation of a radiation beam inducing the Cherenkov emissions; and a model of radiation absorption by tissue in a portion of the patient being irradiated. Also a radiation dosage monitoring system where the processing module uses: image detector 10 images; generated model of a surface of a portion of a patient; and data indicative of chromophores present in the patients skin to determine the radiation dosages received by the modelled portion of the patient surface.
