PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a fixing device that can be reduced in size, can provide stable separation performance from a fixing belt even for a thin sheet-like transfer medium, and suppresses the occurrence of clogging of paper; and an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: There is provided a separation pawl holding mechanism having: a pair of projection parts that is provided extending over a side face of a fixing belt from both end parts in an axial direction of a roller of a separation auxiliary member; a first shaft that is provided parallel to a shaft of the roller and in contact with the pair of projection parts respectively at both end parts, and pivotally supports a base of a separation pawl in a rotatable manner; separation pawl urging position holding means for urging a separation pawl and holding a tip of the separation pawl at a transfer medium peeling position. |
