PURPOSE:To obtain a crystal excellent in solubility by maintaining an aqueous solution of L-627 which is one of carbapenem based antibiotics at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of (1R,5S,6S)-2-[(6,7-dihydro-5H-pyrazolo[1,2- a][1,2,4]triazolium-6-yl)]thio-6-[(R)-1-hydroxyethyl]-1-methyl-carbape nem-3- carboxylate (L-627) is maintained at an eutectic temperature to >0 deg.C, normally at -10 to -0.5 deg.C, especially at -4 to 2 deg.C to provide the objective crystal of L-627. The concentration of L-627 in the above-mentioned aqueous solution is in the range of usually 0.5-10wt.%, especially 1.5-2.5wt.% and it is preferable to cool and freeze the solution before maintaining the solution at the temperature or cool the solution after maintaining the solution at the temperature. A vial preparation capable of packing accurate amount in reduced processes while retaining germ and dust-freeness can be obtained by carrying out this method in a vial and crystallizing the aqueous solution, drying the resultant crystal under reduced pressure and hermetically sealing the crystal. |
