PURPOSE:To provide the subject therapeutic agent comprising a water-soluble extract obtained by extracting the dry powder of a Pittosporaceae plant with water and containing vitamin B12, vitamin B2, saponin and tannin, exhibiting a highly excellent medicinal effect for the treatment of ulcers, and having extremely low toxicity. CONSTITUTION:The dry powder of a Pittosporaceae plant is mixed with water, and the mixture is left to separate into a solution layer and a precipitate layer. After the precipitate layer is removed, the remaining solution layer is concentrated at a temperature of <=40 deg.C under vacuum and, if necessary, the concentrated solution is lyophilized into the powder, thus providing the objective therapeutic agent comprising the water-soluble extract which contains vitamin B12, vitamin B2, saponin and tannin as main ingredients and having large absorption bands at 1050-1070cm<-1>, 1620cm<-1>, 2950cm<-1> and 3450cm<-1>, and further having relatively large absorption bands at 520cm<-1>, 780cm<-1>, 1250cm<-1>, 1320cm<-1>, 1380-1440cm<-1> (doublet), 1735cm<-1> and 2850cm<-1>. |
