PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric of ultrafine diameter fibers, in which the nonwoven fabric has excellent mechanical characteristics and superior handleability, and can also be suitably used in the applications such as a filter and a separator in a battery and a capacitor, and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: A nonwoven fabric of ultrafine diameter fibers comprises ultrafine diameter fibers. The ultrafine diameter fibers has an average fiber diameter of 0.01-5 μm, and meets all of the following requirements (a)-(c). (a) The nonwoven fabric has an average apparent density of 0.05-1.5 g/cm; (b) The nonwoven fabric has an average void diameter of 0.5-10 μm and a maximum void diameter of 50 μm or less; and (c) a ratio of tensile strength in one direction of the nonwoven fabric to tensile strength in a direction perpendicular to the direction is 1.5 to 15. |
