The cover (4) has a protection element (10) and a base plate (8) including locking units adapted to cooperate to hold the protection element on the base plate. One of the locking units is formed on the base plate and carried by an inner wall and an outer wall of an annular groove. The other locking unit is formed on an inner surface of an annular skirt of the protection element. The groove of a width is adapted to oppose disengagement of the skirt by pulling. The protection element includes a cap fixed on the base and surrounding a pushbutton (6). The skirt is surrounded by the cap. An independent claim is also included for an aerosol generator.
