UP-TOWER SUSPENSION SYSTEM FOR A WIND TURBINE ROTOR BLADE

The present disclosure is directed to a suspension system 100 for a wind turbine rotor blade and methods 200 for suspending said rotor blade 24 from a hub 20 thereof. The method 200 includes positioning the rotor blade 24 in a substantially six o'clock position. Another step includes removing at least one root attachment assembly 42 from an adjacent rotor blade 24 and providing at least one passageway from an exterior surface of the adjacent rotor blade to the root attachment assembly 42. Still another step includes inserting a cable 102 through the passageway 106 such that the cable 102 engages an interior surface of the adjacent rotor blade 24 and extends from within the adjacent rotor blade 24 to the lowered rotor blade. The method further includes securing the cable 102 to the rotor blade 24 at an attachment location 105. Next, the method includes lowering the rotor blade 24 a vertical distance from the hub 20 until the blade 24 is supported by the cable 102.
