[Class 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] In ships' hulls and other constructional iron work the framing or stiffening members, such as the transverse frame members a, b, d are spaced from and are attached to the plating by spaced connecting-pieces of angle, tee or other suitable section. One flange of the connecting - member overlaps and is welded to the web of the frame member and the other flange lies against and is welded to the skin plating. The distance between the plating and the inner edge of the stiffening member is about 30 per cent of the total depth of the connecting-member. Specification 383,845 is referred to. |
