PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare earth permanent magnet and a method of manufacturing the same, capable of suppressing the reduction in coercive force even when compression stress is applied.SOLUTION: A rare earth permanent magnet has a crystal grain boundary and its grain boundary phase is made from metal glass. Moreover, a method of manufacturing the rare earth permanent magnet is a method of manufacturing the rare earth permanent magnet having the crystal grain boundary. This manufacturing method includes the steps of: forming a thin film of metal glass on the surface of the main phase; and sintering the thin film of the metal glass formed on the main phase and the surface of the main phase at a temperature equal to or more than the glass transition temperature of the metal glass and equal to or less than the crystallization temperature thereof to form the grain boundary phase of the metal glass. |
