A label winding device (100, 200, 300, 400) is for receiving a medium (10) including a label liner (11) and a label member (12) that is removably attached to the label liner (11) and has at least one label portion (12a) and a waste portion (12b), separating the waste portion (12b) from the label liner (11) at a waste separation portion, and winding the at least one label portion (12a) with the label liner (11). The label winding device (100, 200, 300, 400) includes: a waste winder (107) for winding the separated waste portion (12b); a label winder (106) for winding the at least one label portion (12a) with the label liner (11) without the separated waste portion (12b); a waste guide (105, 130, 140) for guiding the separated waste portion (12b) to the waste winder (107); a support for rotatably supporting the waste guide (105, 130, 140); a sensor (121) for detecting a rotational speed of the waste guide (10, 130, 140); and a waste break detector (20) for detecting break of the waste portion (12b) on a basis of the detection by the sensor (121). |
