The workplace (10) has storage units (60) for receiving medical instruments or utensils. The storage units are arranged in a circular arc fashion around a medical staff (16) at a preset location. A transport rail (40) for holding an instrument carrier (49) that moves along a conveyer rail. The transport rail has a loading zone (41) and an unloading zone (43), and operating range is set between the loading region and the unloading zone and managed within a space on the storage units.
