A suturing guide 10 for assisting in the application of a suture, comprises (i) a rigid guide body 12 having a distal contact surface 14, (ii) a suture-needle exit port 16 disposed on the said contact surface; (iii) a suture-needle guide channel 18 passing through the guide body in fluid communication with the exit port; and (iv) a suture-needle entry port 20 in the guide body leading into the guide channel. The guide channel defines a curved suture-trajectory 22 for the needle, the trajectory partially extending from the distal contact surface outside the guide body. The guide channel is configured so that a matching suture needle 28 entering the guide body through the entry port passes inside the guide channel and exits the exit port with substantially no play within the guide channel. A needle accepting port 42 and channel 44 may also be provided in the guide body in fluid communication with the suture-trajectory. A kit for application of a suture includes the said suture guide and at least one matching suture needle having a penetrating distal tip 30 and a proximal end 32. |
