PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel diene-based polymer and a production method of the polymer having a functional group introduced into the main chain structure.SOLUTION: A modified diene-based polymer is obtained through steps of: decomposing a diene-based polymer having a carbon-carbon double bond in the main chain by oxidizing and cleaving the carbon-carbon double bond so as to decrease the molecular weight and to obtain polymer fractions; coupling the polymer fractions by changing acidity or basicity of a system including the polymer fractions to convert the system into basic when the system is acidic and into acidic when the system is basic, to obtain an intermediate polymer having a changed structure; epoxidizing a carbon-carbon double bond moiety in the main chain of the intermediate polymer; and further converting at least a part of the generated epoxy groups into hydroxyl groups. |
