An axial flow fan (10) includes a hub (14) rotatable about a central axis (16). The hub (14) includes a front face (18) and a cylindrical portion (26). The axial flow fan (10) also includes a plurality of blades (30) extending radially outwardly from the cylindrical portion (26) of the hub (14), and an aperture (46) through the front face (18) of the hub. The aperture (46) is at least partially defined by a first surface (78) oriented non-parallel with the front face (18). The axial flow fan (10) further includes a lip (74) having a second surface (82) adjacent the first surface (78) that at least partially overlaps the aperture (46) and provides a tortuous passageway through the aperture (46).
