[Class 12 (i)] A roller bearing has co-operating guide flange and roller ends, the latter having a curved generatrix, and the former so shaped that the point or line of contact 10 and the axes 9, 5 of the rollers 6 and the bearing 1 lie in the same plane, so as to allow a film of lubricant to extend over the greater part of the area formed by the projection of the roller end 7 upon the pressure surface 3 of the flange 2. Two or more different surfaces of rotation may be merged to form either or both surfaces 3, 7 or surface 7 may be spherical and surface 3 either spherical, toroidal, or conical. |
