摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency of a process for recovering manganese alloy from manganese oxide-based waste or waste derived from positive electrode material for lithium ion secondary battery.SOLUTION: A smelting reduction apparatus 3 includes: a cylindrical furnace body 5; a tilting means for tilting the furnace body 5; a rotating means for rotating the furnace body around its axis in a horizontal attitude; a nozzle portion 85 of an oxygen burner which faces an opening located at one axial end of the furnace body in a protrudable and retractable manner in the horizontal attitude; and a plug 11 which blows inert gas to a furnace bottom portion 9 located on the other axial end side that forms the bottom in an upright attitude. This smelting reduction apparatus is used, whereby smelting is promoted by rotating the furnace body while blowing the flame of the oxygen burner in the horizontal attitude, and reduction is promoted by blowing the inert gas in the upright attitude. According to this apparatus 3, after waste is molten, the reduction can be performed with the waste being left in the furnace body 5.
