The present invention relates to a fixed contact (1) arranged to be mounted on a wall (20) of a tap changer. The fixed contact (1) includes a contact part (4) and a cable connection part (7). The cable connection part (7) includes attachment means (13) for attachment to a cable lug. According to the invention, the fixed contact (1) is arranged to be mounted to the wall (20) of the tap changer in such a way that at least the attachment means (13) is rotatable relative to the tap changer wall (20). The invention also relates to a method for mounting a fixed contact to a wall of a tap changer, whereby the invented fixed contact is used.
