Disclosed are a device and a method for providing a distance signal. The disclosed method comprises the steps of: - indicating a first predefined minimum distance by having a first media scale (1) reach a maximum reaction level; - determining a distance that is shorter than the first minimum distance; and in response thereto - having a second media scale (2) indicate a distance that is shorter than the first minimum distance.
