A motor vehicle light (14) having a lightguide (18) is presented, said lightguide (18) having a first longitudinal side (24) and deflection elements (36) which are arranged on its first longitudinal side and are configured to deflect light which is incident from the interior in such a way that the deflected light exits the lightguide. The light is distinguished by the fact that the deflection elements have a deflection prism (38) with a first reflection face (40) and a second reflection face (42) which are configured in such a way that light which propagates within the lightguide and in the process is incident on one of the two deflection faces is initially deflected by said reflection faces (40, 42) to the respective other of the two deflection faces in such a way that the specified deflection with respect to the second longitudinal side is produced as a sum of the deflections occurring at the two deflection faces.
