PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that includes an efficient fixing device that can be set to more appropriate standby temperature even when used by an unspecified number of users.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of paper feed trays; control means that performs, when a printing order is not given to the image forming apparatus over an arbitrary time period, standby temperature control that shifts fixing temperature to a lower value than that during normal image formation; paper condition setting means that sets in advance conditions on the types of paper or thickness of paper for transfer paper to be stored in the paper feeding trays and fed; and fixing means that can have a plurality of fixing temperatures and standby temperatures corresponding to the conditions on the types of paper or thickness of paper set by the paper condition setting means. The control means controls, when the plurality of paper feeding trays have a plurality of sheets of paper having fixing temperatures different from each other, the standby temperature according to the transfer paper having lower fixing temperature. |
