502,673. Incorporating paint ingredients; cellulosic and synthetic resin solutions. HESS, M. Sept. 21, 1937, No. 25560. Convention date, Sept. 25, 1436. [Class 95] [Also in Group IV] A process for preparing multi-coloured decorative films on metal, wallpaper, leather, textiles, ceramic ware, &c. consists in applying thereto a coating agent to which at least two differently coloured pigments have been added in such a way that the " floating capability " is maintained at least for one pigment. Specified pigments are aluminium bronze, copper bronze, and gold bronze powders ; mica, graphite or other scaly pigments, which may be dyed; carbon black, lead chromate, zinc oxide, ochre; aniline red and ultramarine blue. Specified binding media are oil, artificial resin, cellulose or chlor-caoutchouc varnishes or lacquers, or solutions or emulsions of size, casein or wax. Acetanilide may be added to the varnish. In examples, (1) chrome yellow and titanium white are finely ground with a colophony-glycerine ester, linseed oil, wood oil, benzine and benzole, the whole being slowly mixed with aluminium bronze powder; -(2) powdered graphite and aluminium bronze powder are intimately mixed, by slow stirring,' with a mixture of colophonyglycerine ester, wood oil, linseed oil, benzine and benzole. By the careful application of these compositions, by spraying or brushing, multi-coloured effects can be obtained. |
