PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of detecting a device near a card slot.SOLUTION: A detection apparatus includes: first light-emitting means of emitting first detection light; second light-emitting means arranged opposite the first light-emitting means, to emit second detection light to a card slot for inserting a card; detection means installed in a position at a predetermined distance from the first and second light-emitting means, to detect the first and second detection light; and determination means which causes the first and second light-emitting means to emit light by use of a random pattern, determines whether color information in a predetermined position to be obtained when the first and second light-emitting means do not emit light coincides with color information stored in advance, when at least one of a pattern of the first detection light and a pattern of the second detection light does not coincide with a light-emitting pattern, and determines that a foreign material is attached when coincidence of the color information is determined.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
