The invention relates to a method for allowing two entities, linked by a non-secure communication channel and not initially sharing any secret data, to agree on secret information shared in an unconditionally secure manner. Each of these entities is able to generate a new form of random information, referred to as Pure Chance, such that no entity other than itself can know its probability distribution, apart from a set of public characteristics. The internal system of each entity comprises: (1) a Pure Chance Generator (PCG) able to generate a random Pure Chance signal and perform processing operations using the generated signal; and (2) an Interactive Communication Module (ICM) able to publish and read information over the non-secure communication channel. These two entities execute a communication protocol such that: (i) they can each calculate their respective estimation of the shared secret information, which must be as perfectly equal as desired, and (ii) any passive entity having full and unlimited access to the information exchanged over the communication channel, and having unlimited data calculation and storage capacities, can only calculate an estimate of the shared secret information, which can be made as statistically close to absolute uncertainty as desired. |
