PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat various sludge having different properties with a single apparatus without stopping the operation to produce a dehydrated cake of a possible lowest water content depending on each sludge property.SOLUTION: In an operation control method of a screw press type sludge dehydrator, sludge is supplied to an inlet of a screw press dehydrating machine with a constant supply pressure and conveyed to an outlet by a screw shaft 6 having a predetermined rotating speed, while a load (a current value of a motor 10) to rotate the screw shaft is monitored. If the load increases to a specified value when the outlet is closed in this situation, the outlet is opened to discharge a dehydrated cake. On the other hand, if the load remains substantially unchanged when the outlet is closed, prolongation of an interval of closing the outlet is repeated predetermined times. If the load still remains unchanged, the outlet is opened to discharge the dehydrated cake. |
