An inspection method according to the present invention is an inspection method for inspecting the strength of a covering material, the method including the steps of preparing a first supporting member having a first installation surface and a second supporting member having a second installation surface, the second supporting member being disposed such that the second installation surface is adjacent to the first installation surface, directly or indirectly fixing the covering material to the first installation surface and the second installation surface in a state in which the covering material extends over both of the first installation surface and the second installation surface, and reciprocating the second supporting member relative to the first supporting member in a state in which the first installation surface and the second installation surface are adjacent to each other.
