The door handle 1 has a pull bar 2 and an integrated back plate 3 made from a thermoplastic polymer with an antimicrobial agent dispersed within it. Preferably the handle is made from polypropylene and the antibacterial agent contains silver ions and is present at an amount of 0.5% to 15% by weight of the plastic. The handle is preferably formed by injection molding, as a solid body, without fixing holes or any coating. The method of producing the handle requires mixing the plastic and antimicrobial agent together, heating it until it melts, placing it in a mould and allowing it to cool. |
