A first method involves installing a barrier in a cavity wall, the barrier 10 comprising an interception surface 50 and slidingly inserting the barrier into the cavity wall. A cutting tool (35, Figure 7) is introduced into the cavity wall and cutting a slot in a wall surface and inserting an insertion portion 52 of the barrier into the slot. Also claimed is an elongate flexible barrier comprising first and second barrier portions and having two configurations: flattened and extended/deployed. The barrier portions are connected by an elastomeric joint. Also claimed is a method of installing a barrier including the step of rolling the barrier into a storage configuration to form a coil and a releasable restraint which allows the barrier to move the barrier from an installation configuration to a deployed configuration. Also claimed is a method including a barrier with a water resistant composition. Also claimed is a method including a barrier with drains located along the length of the barrier. |
