PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated tool that exhibits superior chipping resistance and wear resistance.SOLUTION: A hard coating layer comprises: (a) a thin layer A which has an average layer thickness of 0.1-1.0 μm, and which comprises a composite nitride layer of Al and Ti satisfying a composition formula: (AlTi)N ( y denotes a content ratio of Ti, and satisfies 0.25≤y≤0.55Y in an atomic ratio) and having a Young's modulus a of 400 GPa≤a≤550 GPa; and (b) a thin layer B which has an average layer thickness of 0.1-1.0 μm, and which comprises a composite nitride layer of Al and Cr satisfying a composition formula: (AlCr)N ( x denotes a content ratio of Cr and satisfies 0.25≤x≤0.50 in an atomic ratio) and having a Young's modulus b of 500 GPa≤b≤800 GPa larger than the Young's modulus of the thin layer A by 100 GPa or more, and (c) the thin layer A is disposed directly above a tool base, and the hard coating layer comprises an alternate lamination of the thin layer A and the thin layer B and has an over-all average layer thickness of 1.0-10 μm. |
