Magnetic device with thermally assisted writing

The device (1) has a magnetic layer (3) or reference layer, and another magnetic layer (5) or storage layer that has a variable direction of magnetization. A spacer (4) is arranged for separating the former magnetic layer and the latter magnetic layer, where the spacer magnetically decouples the magnetic layers. A polarization layer (8) applies a magnetic polarization field during a heating phase before blocking temperature is reached such that direction of magnetism of the latter magnetic layer is always along a direction of the field at the moment that the blocking temperature is reached. An independent claim is also included for a method for writing information in a magnetic layer.
