PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low alloy type ferritic stainless steel for an automotive exhaust system member having oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance equivalent to those of SUS439 steel (17 Cr system) and excellent in cost compared with SUS439.SOLUTION: There is provided the low alloy type ferritic stainless steel for an automotive exhaust system member excellent in oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance containing, by mass%, C:0.0150% or less, Si:1.0 to 1.5%, Mn:0.15 to 1.0%, P:0.050% or less, S:0.0100% or less, N:0.0150% or less, Al:0.010 to 0.200%, Cr:13.0 to 16.0% and Sn:0.002 to 0.050%, and further one or two kind of Ti:0.03 to 0.30% and Nb:0.03 to 0.50% and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and having an A value defined by expression (1) of 0.024 or more.
