The invention relates to a piezo actuator (1) with a plurality of parallel piezo active layers (3), a metal layer electrode (4a; 4b) being arranged between each two adjacent layers (3). The layer electrodes (4a; 4b) are alternately guided to the lateral surface (9), where the layer electrodes contact an outer electrode (10a; 10b) applied onto one lateral surface (9) of the piezo actuator (1). The outer electrode (10a; 10b) has a contact layer (IIa; IIb) in the form of a metal layer applied directly onto the lateral surface (9) and a sieve electrode (12a; 12b) which is applied onto the contact layer (IIa; IIb) and electrically contacts same over the entire region where the sieve electrode and the contact layer overlap. The contact layer (IIa; IIb) has regions which are cut out in the region where the contact layer and the sieve electrode (12; 12b) overlap, one cut-out region (15) being provided at the height of each layer electrode (4a; 4b).
