A partial discharge (PD) monitoring apparatus for a high voltage electrical system comprises a plurality of partial discharge sensors connected to a multiplexer or crosspoint switch. The multiplexer provides selected channels or subsets of data to be stored to a digitiser or ADC for subsequent analysis by a computer. A control board is instructed by the computer to control the operation of the multiplexer adaptively to select desired channels or data for storage based on e.g. the computed PD data, PD pulse parameters or trends therein. The subset of channels may also be selected according to a predetermined test sequence. The computer may communicate with a partial discharge monitoring server (PDMS). Detected PD events may be scored or ranked and associated with assets e.g. machines connected to the network. Pulses may be injected into the system and the response monitored for partial discharge events. |
