Preparing, inspecting and/or repairing a canister C in a canister storage, transfer or transport module M by mounting a travel system 20 on said module M, the system 20 including: a support structure 22; at least one travelling device 24, 48 for preparing, inspecting, and/or repairing the canister; and a base ring 26 for supporting the at least one device 24, 48. The base ring 26 and attached device 24 are rotated relative to the support structure, or the canister C is moved relative to a fixed base ring 26 and at least one device 24, 48. The at least one travelling device may be: a non-destructive sensing device 24, such as an ultrasonic or eddy current sensor; a repair device such as a grinder, welding head, or surface coating nozzle; or at least one preparation device 48, such as a surface cleaning device. |
