[Class 70] [Also in Group XI] Insulating material such as unvulcanized rubber is applied by extruding mechanism 4 to a wire from a reel 2, which then passes continuously through a pressure cylinder 6 having stuffing boxes 8 which are not fluidtight. Brine, or grease containing graphite 12 is supplied through pipe 14, and to prevent loss of the medium 12 compressed air is supplied to the'stuffing boxes through pipes 16. The insulating material is heated for vulcanizing by the application of a high frequency electric field, the two electrodes being the wire 2 and the medium 12.
