For transferring files via a server, processing capabilities of a web browser running on a client system are used to perform bundling and/or compressing of the files to be transferred into a bundled and/or compressed file (e.g. into a zip file) in accordance with web browser executable code transferred from a file transfer web site to a client system. The resulting bundled and/or compressed file is uploaded and subsequently immediately available for downloading from the server, without requiring any processing other than storing and making available for download by the server.
