[Class 29] A hollow water-cooled plate or cell for soapcooling or like apparatus of the filter press type comprises a three sided frame 1, 2, 3, to which is attached by screws the surface sheets of stainless or nickel-clad steel, and a removable grid of spaced bars 7 adapted to space and support the surfacesheets. Thebarsdepend from a frame member 6 secured to the side frame members 2, 3, and may be connected at their free ends by a rod 11. Water is admitted by a pipe 12 at the top having spaced holes or slits to spread the water as films down the inside walls of the surface sheets, and is discharged at a bottom outlet 18. A ringed opening 19 provides communication through the plate for the soap &c.
