- A LED chip having an active light emitting area, and
- A colour conversion layer for converting the light of a first wavelength emitted from the Led chip into light of a a second wavelength,
wherein the colour conversion layer has an essentially uniform thickness h and laterally extends beyond the light emitting layer by a non-zero length x on each side of light emitting layer, wherein x is smaller than h .
