PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper structure that can make fitness and hold of an upper compatible.SOLUTION: In the upper structure of a shoe 1, there are installed an upper body 2 that covers the foot of a user and a reinforcement material 20 that is fastened to the surface 2A of the upper body 2 at least in either the inner instep region or the outer instep region of the upper body 2 and that is discontinuously arranged between the vertical end parts of the upper body 2.
