PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stamp reading method which enables a stamp formed on a surface of a steel material to be read stably while little affected by color, light, and shadow on the surface of a stamped steel material.SOLUTION: The method for reading a stamp formed on a surface of a steel material SS, using a stamp measuring device 4 is provided that includes: a distance adjustment step of positioning the stamp measuring device 4 at such a position that a clearance between the stamp measuring device 4 and a surface SF on which the stamp is formed is within a range of a measurable clearance predetermined for the stamp measuring device 4; a distance measuring step of scanning the stamp-formed surface SF by the stamp measuring device 4 located within the measurable clearance range and measuring distribution of distances; and a reading step of reading a two-dimensional image of the stamp-formed surface SF from the measured distance distribution. The stamp measuring device 4 is comprised of a laser range finder.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
