PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device such as an image forming apparatus which can shift to an energy saving level according to a use frequency of the electronic device and can detect a person and start restoration processing to a stand-by state at an appropriate timing.SOLUTION: An electronic device includes: a memory part for storing a schedule containing a plurality of energy saving levels; a determination part for determining an energy saving level according to a present time zone on the basis of the schedule; and a human sensor 170. It shifts to an energy saving level determined by the determination part when a prescribed time has elapsed while being in a stand-by state and shifts to the stand-by state when a person is detected by the human sensor, with detection distances L1 to L3 and detection angles R1 to R3 of the human sensor being set according to the energy saving levels. Thus, it can achieve a high energy saving effect while in a time zone with a high use frequency, while being capable of maintaining an energy saving state until a person comes near the electronic device and starting restoration processing at an appropriate timing according to a power saving state while in a time zone with a low use frequency.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
