A DRUG DELIVERY COMPOSITION

Drug delivery compositions for delivering a drug to an aquatic animal may deliver an immunogenic antigen to induce an immune response in the aquatic animal. The composition comprises: (a) a nanoparticle; and (b) the active ingredient contained in said nanoparticle. A method for preparing the drug delivery composition and method of delivering a drug composition to an aquatic animal or inducing an immune response in an aquatic animal are also disclosed. Preferred compositions are based on a nanoclay such as a halloysite that has been surface-treated with aminopropyltriethoxysilane and then coated with chitosan and loaded with a vaccine derived from the outer membrane of Tenacibaculum bacteria.
