Disclosed in an embodiment of the present invention is a data transmission method. The method comprises: receiving, by a first user equipment (UE), a first message transmitted by a second UE, wherein the first message comprises indication information indicative of using the second UE as a relay UE; and performing, by the first UE, data transmission via the second UE with a base station, wherein the second UE is used as the relay UE. In the embodiment of the present invention, when the first UE cannot perform data transmission with the base station, the second UE is used as the relay UE by transmitting the indication information from the second UE and indicative of using the second US as the relay UE, and the data transmission is completed by the relay UE, thus ensuring a successful data transmission rate, and further improving a transmission efficiency.
