A heat exchanger able to perform an exchange between air and carbon dioxide ice, characterized in that it comprises the following elements: - at least one sheet of a metal foam or of a metal wool, the foam or wool being characterized by a given level of voids or porosity, which sheet is able to store a given quantity of liquid CO2 or carbon dioxide ice within it; - a contact plate, secured by one of its two faces to said sheet of foam or of wool, which contact plate is able, on its other face, to be placed in contact with the air in a space that is to be cooled.
