摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge a scanning range of ultrashort pulse laser light, and converge fluorescence generated by a multiphoton excitation effect from a broader range of a sample to acquire a bright fluorescence image.SOLUTION: A fluorescence observation unit 3 comprises: a scanner 9 that scans ultrashort pulse laser light from a light source 2; a pupil projection lens 10 that converges the scanned ultrashort pulse laser light; an image formation lens 11 that collimates the converged ultrashort pulse laser light into almost parallel light and makes the parallel light incident upon an objective lens 15; and a dichroic mirror 12 that branches, from an optical path of the ultrashort pulse laser light, fluorescence generated at a converging position due to convergence of the ultrashort pulse laser light onto the sample by the objective lens 15 and converged by the objective lens 15. The image formation lens 11 comprises: a first optical system 17 that has positive refractive power; and a second optical system 18 that is arranged on a scanner 9 side with respect to the optical system 17 and has negative refractive power.
