[Problem] To provide a network system, a node device, a control device, a communication control method, and a control method which are capable of easily implementing physical-layer-device control required for flow control. [Solution] A communication system is provided with a plurality of nodes which form a network, and a control device which uses flow units to control each of the nodes. At least one communication interface is provided to each port of the nodes. The control device holds at least one physical layer mode for every port of each of the nodes, changes the physical layer mode of a prescribed port of a certain node in accordance with prescribed time divisions, and notifies the node. The node sets a corresponding communication interface in accordance with the port physical layer mode for which notification was issued from the control device.
