The present invention provides a method of treating a patient suffering from addiction, having the steps of administering to the patient a controlled release composition comprising an opioid antagonist; and coaching the patient. This simple outpatient and private thirty- minute procedure coupled with a customized life coaching program produces success rates of approximately 80%.
